Getting started with Outlook Rules

This article illustrates simple options to organize an email inbox using Outlook Rules.

To automatically sort messages from a specific sender, please try the following:

a. Right-click a message from the Sender.
b. Select Rules.
c. Select Create Rule.

d. Click the check box next to the Sender’s name.
e. Select the check box next to the “Move the Item to folder” option.
f. Click the “Select Folder” button.

g. Click the “Inbox” option.
h. Select the “New” Button.

i. Name the Rule according to your preference.
j. Click the “OK” button.

k. Click the “OK” button on the two preceding screens.


l. Click the check box next to “Run this rule now.” After doing so, this will remove all emails from this Sender and place them in the folder you created.

m. Click the “OK” button.

Repeat these steps for each Sender/Folder you need organized.
